The International Planned Parenthood Federation, Western Hemisphere Region (IPPF/WHR) and its 40 member associations throughout the Americas are committed to promoting the right of women and men to decide freely the number and spacing of their children and the right to the highest possible level of sexual and reproductive health. To ensure that as many people as possible have access to quality, affordable reproductive health care, we provide more than 18 million services at 11,000 locations &mdash from contraceptive counseling and supplies to HIV prevention, testing and treatment &mdash to many of the neediest people in the region. We believe that the balance between the world's population and its natural resources and productivity is a necessary condition for improving the quality of life on the planet.
This is why IPPF/WHR opposes the Global Gag Rule and its dangerous impact on the women, men and children of the developing world. Overturning the Gag Rule is one of IPPF/WHR's priorities and the impetus for the www.FreeChoiceSavesLives.org campaign and web site.
